N9ne Steakhouse Description:
A paradise for carnivores, N9ne Steakhouse, an offshoot of the restaurant by the same name with additional locations in Las Vegas and Chicago, is easily one of Aspen's most ballyhooed food temples. Its hours---dinner only, Wednesday through Saturday---make table reservations a necessity, although the impossibly long chef's counter overlooking the lively exhibition kitchen led by executive chef Chris Conlon is open to walk-ins. This is not the kind of beef bonanza where hustling servers cradling hulking cuts of cow crash into patrons while trying to navigate a packed dining room, but a chic and sleek space overseen by seasoned servers who don't miss a beat. Predictably, the menu is steak-centric with your typical cuts---filet, rib-eye and sirloin---all available, although the Kobe flat-iron is an unexpected surprise. The Kobe burger, stacked with smoky bacon, grilled onions and cheddar, is tasty, as are the lobster mashed potatoes, oysters Rockefeller and tuna two ways. The wine list, as expected, is pricey, but, then again, so is everything else in Aspen.
