Campo di Fiori Description:
This small, lively, rustic restaurant is always abuzz with the Aspen scene. Even during the off seasons, the place is packed. The formula for success is the warm golden glow evoking a Tuscan dusk, the Della Robbia-style murals, the ever-present hospitality of the owners everyone just calls Luigi and Elizabeth, and the fine earthy Northern Italian cuisine. Antipasti include everything from bruschetta to bresaola and a nice carpaccio di salmone. There's a wide selection of soups and salads, pastas and risottos---the risotto with porcini and white truffle oil is one of our favorites. Good entrées include the marinated free-range chicken grilled with white wine and herbs; the scaloppini Valdostana with prosciutto and mozzarella topped with shaved black truffles; and Venetian-style calf's liver sautéed with onions and Marsala wine. Campo de Fiori also has one of the most extensive selections of Italian wines in town, and a smattering of California wines as well.
