Clementine Description:
Clementine offers the kind of "fusion" seen too infrequently in the culinary world: it's a truly family-friendly, fine-dining restaurant. As darling as its name suggests, Clementine already looks like a longtime neighborhood fixture, with its vintage black-and-white signage, ceiling fans, an expansive second dining room, and a well-equipped, cozy play area just for the kids. The restaurant is a family affair for chef Winston Blick and wife Cristin Dadant---his mom makes the desserts, and there are many family recipes in the mix---and the service is friendly and casual. The dinner menu, though, is serious stuff. A definite must is the house-made charcuterie platter, which features a duck liver pâté spiked with Pikesville rye (the closest thing you'll find to the "hard stuff" in this BYOB establishment); entrées (which change daily) have included dry-pack scallops with a spicy Zeke's Coffee rub, and a Baltimore strip steak topped with a (locally sourced) blue cheese-and-bacon sauce. And if this all sounds a bit fancy for your kids, order them one of Blick's specialties: macaroni and cheese.
