How we do love this vibrant borscht; it has the power to banish winter doldrums. All the Slavic specialties bring sunlight to plates heaped with pierogies, potato pancakes, cabbage rolls, and caraway-spiced wilted cabbage. Odd to find such goodies in the congenial surrounds of a Fells Point coffeehouse, but here they are. Yes, there are other things to order from a daily roster of specials like marinated Chilean sea bass with butternut squash compote and sage butter, and roasted bison with chanterelle and shallot confit. They can be very good. But it's the taste of Eastern Europe and the affable vibe of this storefront café kitted out in stenciled high-back chairs and mismatched tables that keep us coming back for more.
