Ireland piques both musical and gastronomical interest in Bethesda's charming Irish pub. The Celtic spirit of mischief and fun are captured in this dark-wood place, where pick-up musicians often sit in the corner playing pipes, concertina, guitar and banjo. Foot-stomping music underscores the thrill of eating hot shepherd's pie with its piped-on potato crust or Irish lamb stew---or less authentic fare such as rosemary leg of lamb and sautéed chicken Marsala. Probably the main draws here are the Guinness stout and the music, a wonderful blend of old-country magic.
