Bottega Italian Restaurant Description:
Bottega Café and Bottega Restaurant occupy the same 1926 building. In good weather, the former offers one of Birmingham's favorite outdoor dining options. In any weather, diners will enjoy sitting in the warm terra-cotta-colored room and watching pizzas emerge from the wood-fired oven. Or try the piadine---thin pizza topped with a choice of salads and meats then folded over and cut in half so it can be eaten like a sandwich. Homemade chips with charred onion dip are a fine snack. Menus change daily, but you'll always find the roast pork loin with polenta, tomato chutney aïoli and Venetian spinach; and the Café version of macaroni and cheese (baked penne with three cheeses). Main dishes might include mussels Corfu, chicken scaloppine, flat-iron steak or trout with pancetta, lemon and capers. For dessert, try the sampler of Kahlua chocolate mousse, crème brûlée, banana pudding and pumpkin cheesecake. The extensive wine list is shared with Bottega Restaurant.
