Ocean Restaurant Description:
As the name suggests, there's a bounty of finned and shelled creatures here. If something swims or crawls the seven seas, it's likely to show up on the menu. A softly lit contemporary interior has a water wall behind the fresh oyster bar, where glasses are placed on blue recessed lights, creating a glow that adds to the sea fantasy. The daily selection of fresh fish may be prepared in several ways: steamed Asian-style, wood-grilled Greek-style, pan-seared or fried. The creamy lobster potpie is a standout. A seafood tower for two includes oysters, marinated mussels, clams, Maine lobster and spicy peel-and-eat shrimp with cumin rémoulade and mignonette. Pan-seared sea bass might share a plate with pinkeye peas, butter beans and sweet corn relish along with vine-ripe tomato, Vidalia onion, bacon and malt vinaigrette. A Black Angus KC strip with truffle-scented frites or pan-seared free-range chicken will suit those not in the mood for seafood. Desserts are indulgent: cashew-crusted Key lime pie with a meringue kiss. Or try the Bailey's crème brûlée with orange-scented biscotti. The wine list is well-suited to the cuisine.
