This American bar and grill in the homey Ashmont section of Dorchester is a labor of love from chef Chris Douglass, formerly of Icarus and also of nearby Tavolo pizza. Ashmont Grill aims to be the casual neighborhood go-to for a diverse assortment of Dorchester denizens. Patrons can grab a burger for lunch, bring the kids for a weeknight supper of hot dogs while indulging in mussels steamed with chorizo and tomatoes or fettuccine with wild mushrooms and chard, or sip cocktails until closing time on a hot Saturday night date. They can even stumble in for brunch the morning after. Come to think of it, being all things to all people is rather a lofty goal. But Ashmont Grill appears to be up to the task.
