Brussels Bistro Description:
The Brussels Bistro is a taste of a Belgian cafe in Laguna Beach. The mid sized restaurant and bar serves authentic Belgian food and a large selection of Belgian beers. The bistro is located downstairs a bit out of the way. There also a variety of daily specials. Monday through Thursday nights there is live jazz in the evening, Friday and Saturday has DJ music late night.
Traditional Belgian bistro food served with panache is hard to find in Orange County. But in a cool subterranean space right on downtown Laguna's Forest Avenue, you can find the Belgian "bon vivant" attitude, food and drink, along with live entertainment. Mussels, usually a summertime delicacy in Europe's low lands, can be found year-round at this lively eatery. Every Tuesday, a pot of mussels and a pint of beer can be enjoyed for a reasonable price. If you want to sample more regional specialties, start with the "assiette de dégustation," which features a Belgian-style appetizer assortment of deep-fried croquettes and pomme frites with two dipping sauces along with Gouda cheese. Entrées are a bit more traditionally French in nature: a veal chop with braised Belgian endive, chicken meatballs in a tarragon sauce and meatloaf with morels.
