The Lodge Restaurant Description:
The Lodge lies in the hills above Truckee, so it took a while for folks to find it after it opened. But these days, it enjoys a cohort of regulars and seasonal customers. They're drawn by basics such as sharp white cheddar and chèvre gratin mac 'n' cheese, calamari done well, seasonal farmers market salads, flat-iron steak and grilled Colorado lamb loin. Several entrées come in under $20, which is often tough to find in Tahoe. Unlike so many Cal-centric Tahoe lists, The Lodge's wine list acknowledges Spain, Italy and other countries. Look for Bordeaux and Barbera nicely priced at less than $50.
