Beaumont's Description:
Beaumont's firmly maintains its status as the premier neighborhood eatery in La Jolla's Birdrock area. Most nights the tables are filled with an interesting mix of families, surfer dudes and ladies who lunch, while the bar is typically abuzz with laughter and chit chat. It appears the cliché "a place where everyone knows your name" is alive and well at Beaumont's. There seems to be no unifying theme to chef Scott Cathcart's menu, but we like the disparate, global influences in dishes such as Argentinean fire-roasted tri-tip, Mexican pork chile relleno, Mediterranean bouillabaisse and miso-glazed organic king salmon. These dishes are prepared competently; but all else pales in comparison to the Beaumont burger. This hearty combination of beef, pork and veal is topped with balsamic-glazed onions, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese and basil aïoli. Favorite desserts include the big chocolate cake, orange crème brûlée and white chocolate cheesecake, but we rarely make it to this course after the satisfaction of the mighty burger.
