Bodee's Description:
A romantic spot on the Maricopa Highway just north of Ojai, Bodee's offers a fine selection of steakhouse fare. The setting, however, is the big draw. Couples cozy up to a roaring fire in the main room, or dine alfresco on an outdoor patio with its own fireplace. Michele Cromer-Bentivolio runs the restaurant with the same casual warmth her grandparents were known for when they opened it in 1947. Since then, the food has gotten more elaborate: a 14-ounce rib-eye is treated with a garlic-Cajun wet rub and finished with Jack Daniels; the pork loin is stuffed with fire-roasted apples, sage and toasted walnuts. On the lunch menu, a prime rib melt is served like a French dip---with the meat thinly sliced and a cup of au jus on the side. Entrée salads use mostly organic Ojai produce and are available with either grilled chicken or duck breast. Considering the rustic location, the must-have dessert is an indoor version of s'mores---a campfire classic---combining molten chocolate cake with a graham cracker crust and toasted marshmallow.
