Fondita Mexican Restaurant Description:
Fillmore is a rather quiet old railroad town with its own unique charms. The downtown district has the most historic old buildings. Tucked in among a 1910-built grocery store and the post office remodeled to look old after the '94 earthquake sits La Fondita. The unassuming storefront with spare décor serves up fresh and authentic Mexican food like menudo, tamales, carne asada, enchiladas, tamales and Latin pastries. You won't find margaritas on the menu, but there is a selection of beer. The family-friendly service makes it nice to bring the kids. The few seats are filled with locals and tourists alike.
