Tiato Description:
Named after the herb tia to, also known as Vietnamese Perilla, this market café from the House of An restaurant group (creators of Crustacean and AnQi) serves healthy American cuisine with an Asian twist. Serving breakfast and lunch, chef Helene An puts an emphasis on clean and healthy dishes made with local ingredients, even utilizing fresh herbs and produce from their onsite garden. Located in the MTV/Lions Gate building in Santa Monica, the 11,000 sq. ft. space is constructed from reclaimed wood, raw concrete and eco-friendly materials, and opens up to an outdoor patio. The breakfast menu is composed of classic dishes like pancakes and omelets, but also offers specials like the Tiato eggs with forbidden black rice cake, mizuna, shishito peppers and Asian herbs. Eclectic lunch items range from hemp seed and coriander crusted albacore salad to the slow braised pork sandwich. The café also offers draft and bottled beers, wine and a sake bar.
