This cavernous, high-tech space features roomy booths, an open kitchen fronted by a dining counter and cappuccino bar---and a continual crush of people. The menu is enormous, but the kitchen handles the repertoire well. Traditional deli standards are in evidence, but the best dishes are those you'd find in a French bistro or an American mom's kitchen: macaroni and cheese, savory lamb shank, French onion soup, a tangy Caesar salad and crisp, salty fries. You'll also find such culturally diverse items as shepherd's pie, osso buco, duck enchiladas and chocolate bread pudding with rum sauce. The fresh-baked breads and desserts are swell, and they travel well, as does the rest of the menu if you're picking up an haute picnic en route to the beach (there's even a decent wine shop on the premises).
