Our Green Corn Tamales are shipped around the U.S. They are made fresh and served at the restaurant only May through October. On opening day guests are lined up at the front door to be the first to enjoy this delicacy that Rosa Borquez brought from her early days in The Arizona Territory. The Tuesday preceding May 1st, a tamale making party is held - Early reservations highly recommended.
Students and families like the good margaritas and festive atmosphere, which are practically guaranteed at El Cholo. The food is pretty good, too: chicken breasts in flour tortillas with guacamole; crab enchiladas with jalapeño-cilantro pesto sauce; Sonora-style enchilada topped with a fried egg; and the famous homemade green corn tamales, which you can get only, alas, from May through October. The patio's a nice place to relax. Settle yourself under one of the umbrellas.
