Il Forno was founded by Joseph Suceveanu in 1985. Chef Domenico Salvatore has also been a part of Il Forno since the same year.
This friendly neighborhood trattoria in Santa Monica packs them in because it offers good regional Italian cooking at reasonable prices. Start with capriccio imperiale, a cold seafood salad with baby lobster, shrimp, calamari and green beans in lemon-olive oil dressing. In addition to the usual Italian favorites, the menu features such lighter dishes as melanzane alla caprina, rolled eggplant stuffed with goat cheese and herbs in homemade tomato sauce.
