There are a lot of dining options in wine country, let's face it. But say you find yourself at the Hyatt, a little spent after a long day of meetings or traversing backroads. The Brasserie is the kind of hotel restaurant you'd be happy to encounter. An amiable staff makes you feel at home, and the menu offers safe and welcoming choices with just enough flair. Unwind in an ample booth, fresh lilies on the table, Mission-style lamps overhead. After several iterations, The Brasserie is back under Hyatt control---but the chef has leeway to leverage local growers, which the menu proudly names when applicable. Choose from generous starters like tempura prawns with mango-basil sauce; spinach tossed with applewood bacon, balsamic onions and Manchego; or just-seared ahi, fanned out, flecked with black and white sesames and topped with seaweed salad. Try Hawaiian Kobe and buttery potato "risotto" as a main. Standout desserts include a Valrhona chocolate croissant bread pudding and Gravenstein apple cake, layers moistened with sparkling cider, the green peel as confetti.
