Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery Description:
A brewery as well as an attractive restaurant and bar, Top of the Hill offers an international menu that complements its beers. It's located on the third floor of an office building and features an impressive view of Franklin Street from the outdoor patio. The venue draws a diverse crowd including UNC faculty and students, visitors stationed at nearby Carolina Inn and Franklin Hotel, and locals downtown for movies and cultural events. Though it could probably get away with less interesting food, the restaurant boasts an exciting menu with dishes prepared with skill. We recommend the wild mushroom grits cakes with shrimp in a rosemary cream sauce, buttermilk fried chicken with mushroom gravy and a biscuit, and French Market jambalaya with shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage. Small plates are available as well as munchies like nachos or crisp sweet potato fries topped with cheese. On-tap offerings might include Iron Mine Pale Ale, Blue Ridge Blueberry Wheat and Lewis Black Imperial Stout.
