Avondale Restaurant Description:
Like the elevated Westin resort in which it's located, Restaurant Avondale is all about the Rocky Mountain highs. Bedecked with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the lofty mountains in the distance, this rusticated restaurant, overseen by executive chefs Thomas Salamunovich and Jeremy Kittelson, flaunts ceiling fabrics the hue of the high country's changing aspen trees alongside an indoor fire pit that's conducive to apres ski. And, in fact, Restaurant Avondale sits directly next to the chair lift that whisks hotel guests to the slopes of Beaver Creek Mountain. The menu, an assemblage of West Coast-inspired foodstuffs with a seasonal bent, offers several shareable small plates including crisp-edged falafel cakes, a lovely charcuterie plate featuring marinated olives, crostini and house-cured salami and veal meatballs straddling polenta wreathed in a woody beef broth. Main dishes zigzag from braised Colorado lamb shoulder sharing space with farro, butternut squash and spinach to Neapolitan-style pizzas and cioppino stocked with seafood. The wine list is a work in progress, but the cocktails, most notably the lavender sidecar, are pure innovation.
