Blue Plate Bistro Description:
True to its name, this comfort food emporium dishes out inexpensive, straightforward American favorites that unapologetically buck the latest food trends. Located in the Christie Lodge, a down-to-earth slumbering pad in Avon, the eatery caters to both visiting guests of the hotel and locals looking for a laid-back atmosphere in which to nosh on bountiful breakfasts: omelets, oatmeal, granola, malted waffles, pancakes, salmon eggs Benedict and french toast. Lunch offerings include burgers, a Colorado lamb sandwich topped with a creamy sesame sauce and a pulled pork sandwich. Dinner selections stick to the basics, proffering chile, Buffalo wings, meatloaf and pot roast crowned with scratch-made mushroom gravy. There's nothing groundbreaking about the cooking, but the dishes are well-executed and the seasonally-changing menu utilizes ingredients culled from local farmers and purveyors. The wine list is fairly-priced and food-friendly, and the cocktails, most notably the cappuccino martini, are first-rate.
