This Newport-Mesa location of Marie Callender's fulfills its role as a rather inexpensive place to find an American-style meal in this hip and upscale neighborhood. There are older folks, families and some young people coming to eat here, who like the quick service, classic Americana meals---and having a host of pie choices for dessert. Breakfast includes traditional American egg and meat dishes as well as muffins and quiche. Lunch and dinner share the same menu of classics (pot roast, turkey dinner, meatloaf) and more modern dishes (grilled lemon chicken, pastas and entrée salads). The salad bar has endured since the '70s, and you can still load up time and again on fresh greens, soups and ranch dressing.
