Casa Tina Description:
The authentic Mexican dishes and vegetarian selections emphasize spiciness (patrons are invited to bring their own hot sauce) and healthy preparation. For example, no lard is used in any sauces or bean dishes, and most items are available with vegetables instead of meat or chicken. The menu ranges from the tostada vagabunda (two fried corn tortillas with beans, lettuce, cheese and a choice of chicken, beef or veggies, with chipotle sauce, guacamole, sour cream and tomato) to enchiladas en salsa roja. Dinner appetizers include quesadillas de cangrejo, flour tortilla filled with crab meat, cheese and green onions, served with a chipotle cream sauce. Or consider mole poblano (a mixture of slightly sweet and spicy tastes, served as either chicken or vegetables). We recommend the fajitas del mar, a platter of grilled onions and bell peppers topped with grilled fish and served with a roasted tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese, lettuce and warm tortillas.

We went to Casa Tina's last night and had a great experience as always. Our server was Alejandro, who was attentive, fun and made sure that we always had a drink or food in front of us. We started with the fabulous pisco sour, which can only be described as heavenly. The pisco sour, invented in Peru around 1900, is an intoxicating blend of grape brandy, fresh lime juice, egg whites and a sugar rim - blended into a creamy, frothy, limey drink. We had the posole which is a spicy, rich chicken stew simmered with hominy, ancho chili, condiments and the black bean soup - Tina's thick version with cilantro, roasted jalapeno and a side of onion and chorizo. For our main courses we had the spectacular fish tacos ensanada which is a traditional taco with grilled fish, cabbage, cilantro and their delectable sauces. We all had the juicy and delicious Carnitas which is seasoned pieces of roasted and fried pork served with onion, cilantro, jalapeno salsa & corn tortillas. The restaurant décor was authentic and much of it was brought back from Mexico. The staff is friendly, efficient and always ready to do anything they can to make your experience one to remember.
