Key Largo Conch House Description:
A quaint, tropical, victorian style restaurant & coffee house that was featured on the Food Network in June 2006. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as smoothies, lattes, teas, and desserts. Wheelchair accessible and pet friendly. Hidden in the trees, next to Enterprise Car Rental and across from Waffle House. Voted "Best New Business" at 2005 People's Choice Awards!
The pink gingerbread cottage with a brick patio and tropical foliage looks like it belongs in Key West, but this family restaurant is located right at the gateway to the Keys. The comfy dining room (outfitted in turquoise and melon-pink) offers everything from coffee to conch chowder, and being that everything is homemade---right down to the cocktail sauces---it's all worth trying. Standout items include a conch eggs Benedict topped with conch ceviche (really, where else are you going to find that?), conch fritters containing a whiff of curry, first-rate fish tacos, and conch meunière (a dinner entrée you won't find many other places). Save room for dessert, though: carrot cake and, of course, Key lime pie.
