East-West yin yang shows up on the menu of this Japanese import, where spaghetti comes topped with Japanese and American ingredients, sometimes on the same plate. Traditional options include bolognese with meatballs, clam sauce and garlic-basil, but you will also find toppings like corned beef and cabbage. And the Japanese influence is obvious in butter-sauced spaghetti tossed with cod roe, sea urchin, squid, and-or seaweed, or in pasta with natto (fermented soybean) and shiso. Non-spaghetti options include seafood porridge, a bacon and spaghetti omelet, and seafood gratin. Regardless of what you order, the $1 salad---iceberg and tomato topped with tangy miso paste---is well worth it.
