We feel that Antone's is one of the best and quickest places to grab a Houston quick-meal institution, the Antone's po' boy---a version of the New Orleans-style submarine sandwich that has the power to sharply divide opinion, largely depending on whether or not you grew up eating them. At any time from morning until 6:30 at night (or mid-afternoon Sundays at this Rice Village location), you can pop in to pick up a pre-wrapped, color-coded sandwich to go. With ten kinds to choose from, all served on the distinctive Antone's roll, we place high among our favorites the smoked turkey with slices of smoked cheddar and the regular with layers of ham, salami, provolone and signature chow chow relish. Vegetarians opt for the tasty "nature boy" with tabbouleh and feta cheese. For dessert, choose from baklava, cheesecake and fruit pies.
