Doyle's of Oak Forest Restaurant Description:
This Oak Forest landmark has been around since 1954, when Marilyn and Leo Doyle opened up a deli to sell meats and cheeses from their home state of Wisconsin. Through the years, homemade pizza, lasagna and spaghetti have taken their places alongside the great sandwiches. Mainly a lunch spot with high volume take-out, the dining room in all its homey glory is from another era, as is the friendly waitstaff. The satisfying Italian dishes are safe, comforting versions reminiscent of Mom's kitchen. The pizza benefits from this handmade, cheesy approach and is a nice change from the chains. But we save our highest praise for the sandwiches, served on fresh, toasted buns. At the top of our list is the chicken salad po' boy with a creamy filling that's also great in a salad bowl. An oven-toasted Reuben is another notable selection.
