Mark's Feed Store, established in 1988, is renowned for its rendition of the Kentucky barbecue dish called "burgoo," a rich, thick stew of various meats and a token smattering of vegetables. (Happily, they omit an authentic frontier ingredient---squirrel.) Combos of burgoo and a smoked-meat sandwich are a carnivore's dream. The pork on the moderately sauced ribs fairly drops from its bones. (If there were a dry-rubbed option, Mark's might achieve "Q" greatness.) Sides include, besides the burgoo, fried corn on the cob, potato salad, green beans flavored with pork and onions and baked beans, all house specialties. Save room for buttermilk pie. Beer and wine are available. Tuesdays are Kids Eat Free Nights. Adults craving quiet should opt for take-out. Other locations.
