A posh steak and seafood house, Merlot's exudes a welcoming charm that makes diners feel special. While U.S.D.A. Prime steaks star, the traditional, clubby vibe commonly associated with steakhouses is absent. The high ceilings, tall, elegant windows and glittering chandelier instead give way to an impressive, temperature-controlled wine cellar that's visible behind a wall of glass. The bourbon-marinated bone-in rib-eye is first-rate as is the roasted sea bass with its lovely balsamic drizzle. Plush seating is an added perk that may cause you to linger over coffee and Cognac. When doing so, try the s'mores or the apple and peach crisp---a wow ending to a lovely meal.
