Fiesta Latina Description:
The vibrant flavors of Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras enjoy equally good treatment and attractive presentations at this modest, friendly Latin American destination for memorable budget dining. Some of the more interesting dishes include salpicón de res, a cold salad of chopped beef, mint, onion and lime, and the tongue-searing camarones a la diabla, or shrimp in a chipotle chile sauce. Made-to-order Salvadoran pupusas are a major draw, especially the ones filled with cheese and loroco, the vegetal buds of an edible flower. Soft-shell tacos cradling barbacoa and carnitas are inexpensive and pair well with bottles of Mexican beer or fresh juices. The dining room is utilitarian with hints of personality, like the old diner counter with swivel stools, and the service is similarly rough around the edges but well meaning.
