Claddagh Pub of College Park Description:
The Irish-style bar at the entrance sets a relaxing tone, and there is cozy alcove seating as well. Two main dining rooms are warmed by a large, castle-like fireplace and dark wood paneling. Start with the appetizer of black mussel simmered in Harp lager. Then go native with traditional pub fare like thin-sliced corned beef with carrots and parsnips over boiled cabbage and redskins. Beef, carrots, potatoes and root veggies in the rich Irish stew swim in thick Guinness-infused sauce. Lighter eaters can try one of eight entrée salads or go for garlic butter trout with capers, sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts. A dozen sandwich choices include a burger and a cod filet on a baguette. Finish with traditional bread pudding with whiskey cream sauce or crêpes filled with Baileys-inflected cream cheese and topped with raspberry fruit compote. The staff is very attentive.
