Pane e Vino Description:
This restaurant has two personalities. Indoors it is warm, dark and cozy, befitting the good casseroles, pizzas and breads that emerge from its huge ovens. Outdoors, the sunny back patio buzzes with busy conversation befitting its standing as a hangout for the Hollywood crowd. Either way, we have always enjoyed both the food and the company, whether on clear days seated outside, or on L.A.'s occasional rainy ones inside. Start with gamberetti alla Santa Margarita---shrimp sautéed in Cognac, honey, scallions and curry, served with grilled polenta. Among the entrées, highlights are the chicken roasted in a clay pot with pancetta, garlic, rosemary and lemon; and the milk-fed veal chop with rosemary butter and roasted potatoes. Save room for the textbook tiramisu.
