Empress Pavilion Description:
Awesomely large, with an assortment of sliding walls that open to accommodate 800 diners, this ornate, bustling Hong Kong-style seafood restaurant looks like it was plucked right out of...well...Hong Kong. Despite the volume of business, the food is good, and thanks to a complex network of servers, dishes zoom across the room sizzling and steaming. Among the approximately 200 items on the menu, make your first choices those listed as Gourmet Selections such as sautéed prawns with honey-glazed walnuts, steamed Dungeness crab with flat noodles, and shrimp and chicken with black bean sauce. Empress Pavilion is famous for its morning or mid-day dim sum feasts, which make for a marvelous weekend treat. For dinner, round up a table of ten for an elaborate ten-course gourmet banquet---a variety of reasonably priced menus are available, offering everything from the commonplace to the exotic. This is also the place to try China's most highly valued (and high-priced) delicacies---shark's fin and bird's nest soup.
