Brownstone Pizzeria Description:
Chef Richard Carrillo produces New York-style pizzas using fresh produce and toppings at this Eagle Rock eatery. The simple décor consists of an open kitchen, dark hardwood floors and granite tables. Pasta dishes include baked ziti and cheese ravioli; sandwiches may cradle meatballs or sausage and peppers. But the real draw is the pizza. We can recommend the fresh mushroom pie but much prefer the versions loaded with slices of fennel-studded sausage or meatballs. Unfortunately, the slices are light on shredded mozzarella and the sauce could use more bite. An impressive option is the side of browned meatballs served on a bed of zesty tomato sauce. If only the pizza sauce had that much pop.
