Frogs' legs dry-sautéed with fresh ginger, curry powder and peanuts or the goat stew might not be for everyone. So alongside such authentic and alluring delights, Thanh Thanh diplomatically serves chicken Parmesan, fries and red beans and rice. It's an unusual mixture of topnotch Vietnamese food and standard Americanized fare, but it seems to keep everyone happy at this café by the courthouse in downtown Gretna. Order the crispy fried young hen seasoned with five-spice powder and served with steamed buns, if it happens to be the day's special (and it often is). Bubble teas are made with fresh fruit, and the Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk is as strong and sweet here as anywhere. This is yet another Vietnamese restaurant in the suburbs that is worth the drive.
