Okra's Louisiana Bistro Description:
Hip Southern cooking and slick décor that looks just this side of honky-tonk make Okra’s an unexpected find in Old Town Manassas. But don’t get us wrong: This is all upscale fun and food, with the emphasis on fun. As for the cooking, you’ll find mostly such Louisiana classics as dirty rice, gumbo, fried okra, étouffée, Creole jambalaya and that New Orleans’ sandwich specialty, muffuletta. The kitchen, however, does throw in a couple of Yankee-influenced dishes, such as the ubiquitous Caesar salad, a charbroiled portobello mushroom, a stylized hamburger and a BLT. Desserts are flamboyantly Southern, and include pistachio praline and caramelized bananas with fried ice cream.
