Golden City Description:
What, our friend asked, is this place all about? Once a notable destination for Shanghainese food and superior dumplings, this restaurant has changed owners, management, and menus and not for its credit. With most of the seating gone---a clear invitation to eat out, not in---and its menu sprinkled with Americanized dishes, Golden City has slipped into obscurity. Maybe it has some merit as a neighborhood convenience, but chances are you’d fare better eating fast-food burgers than the restaurant’s overly sweet orange beef or tasteless hot and sour soup. Forget it.
