Southern Indian dishes are the specialty here and since most Indian restaurants nearby offer Northern Indian, Priya has achieved such popularity that it opened a second spot in Farmington Hills. Priya's menu emphasizes rice and lentils at a higher spice level. One distinctive dish is dosa, a crêpe made with lentil or rice flour and rolled around fillings like vegetable curry, onions, chilies and potatoes. Sambar, a lentil vegetable soup with a complex flavor, shouldn't be missed. Northern Indian dishes also are on the menu, and vegetarians will find many options, ranging from baked eggplant to mixed vegetables with yogurt, nuts and spices. Those who order the thali assortment---a mélange that includes vegetable curry, dal, sambar, raita, rice, Indian breads and dessert in addition to an entrée---will enjoy this traditional presentation for just $2 more. We also recommend the fiery chicken vindaloo, ginger shrimp, lamb curry or lamb sag (boneless lamb cooked with spinach and mild spices).
