Town Talk Diner Description:
First off, know that the original landmark diner is now a bar, which may take one aback when stepping inside. You'll see women with martinis and guys sipping beers at a counter, which is a bit disconcerting. But once you find your way into the chic dining room, everything fits. This is the place to take in comfort food with a twenty-first-century spin. Budget-conscious types should try the grilled cheese sandwich (cheddar and Gruyère). For appetizers, we could easily become addicted to the airy, batter-fried puffs they call cheese curds (bearing absolutely no resemblance to the grease-dripping, State Fair variety) that are served with house-made ketchup, or the deep-fried pickles. Desserts are fine, but we prefer finishing off such a creative meal with a new-fashioned ice cream drink, perhaps a Monkey Business.
