What's not to like about a restaurant that knows how to make a great sticky caramel roll, or a place that thinks to top brioche-based french toast with caramelized bananas and huckleberry jam? Best of all, this also is a place that understands the importance of good coffee or espresso to accompany the morning offerings. We're even willing to join the suburban crowds waiting in throngs in the bakery section to get seated. But that's because we know once we're in, we can order the fried egg sandwich with avocado and ham or that huge, puffed-up sweet apple soufflé pancake we haven't seen the likes of since Pannekuchen Huis closed. Still, if we can only order one thing, it's always the homemade English muffin slathered with guacamole, layered with tomato slices, topped with two quivering poached eggs, and finished with smooth, rich homemade hollandaise sauce.
