Bar Description:
In actuality, Bar is spacious and airy enough---think high ceilings, exposed brick everywhere, and plenty of arched windows---but it can sure seem dark and cluttered, what with loud techno and a hip, clubby crowd turning it into more of a hook-up spot than an eatery. That's not only despite the servers' best intentions but also despite the cooks'; Bar's repertoire---as simple and straightforward as its name---consists mainly of pizza, which is arguably some of the best you'll find in New Haven outside of Wooster Square. The free-form pies boast upwards of 20 different toppings, from the pedestrian (pepperoni, sausage, etc.), to the much more unusual (mashed potatoes?). But it's hard to go wrong with the basic tomato and fresh mozzarella pie. Another plus at Bar is the five house-brewed beer offerings, such as BAR Blonde and AmBAR Ale.
