Inn at Millrace Pond, The Description:
The Inn at Millrace Pond is located in Hope, a historic little Moravian village in mountainous northwest New Jersey. Housed in a picturesque stone building that was once the site of a pre-revolutionary war gristmill, the restaurant has a millrace still running through it. The ambience is as it was in colonial days, simplicity and warm hospitality. Soft candlelight and a warming fire attract couples from near and far for romantic weekend getaways that include a stay at the inn. Don't look for culinary fireworks here, just a very good meal in a lovely setting at a fair price. The menu consists of a respectable and satisfying selection of American favorites such as roasted rack of lamb with rosemary and mint sauce or manchego-stuffed chicken breast. One appetizer, firecracker shrimp, is a large sundae glass filled with shrimp in a homemade red cocktail sauce. A trip to Hope to dine here is well worth it. Service is friendly but a little rough around the edges, as one might expect at a country inn.
