Cafe Adelaide and the Swizzle Stick Bar Description:
Café Adelaide may look like a fine dining room, but it is really a relaxed, somewhat more playful contemporary Creole bistro. The restaurant is inspired by the late Adelaide Brennan whose joie de vivre reportedly took her around the world. Her spirit is summoned in the restaurant's Swizzle Stick Bar, which is renowned in town for mixing up creative, modern cocktails. The kitchen exults in blending traditional New Orleans cuisine (try the proper, medium-dark-roux seafood gumbo) and Southern fun (the fried chicken Cobb salad makes a fine lunch). No Brennan family restaurant would be without a shrimp rémoulade; at Adelaide, the shrimp are seasoned with boiling spices and the cold, creamy sauce sweetened with Cognac. Creole tradition rules in the dessert to target, a bananas Foster bread pudding. The extensive wine list is likely to provide an appropriate pairing with your meal selection. By the way, if you have never had pain perdu (New Orleans french toast) for breakfast, this is the place to have it first, complete with cane syrup.
