Hoshun Restaurant Description:
Hoshun offers pan-Asian cuisine in quietly elegant surroundings. The space features several dining rooms, a sushi bar and a cushy, inviting cocktail lounge. In New Orleans you are apt to find just about any ethnic food you desire, but this may be the only place to find crispy pumpkin seed plum duck, sushi, squid salad, pad thai noodles, soba and well prepared tempura all under one roof. The owner, Steve Ho, was once a partner in another of the city's favorite Asian spots, Five Happiness. His effort here is far more ambitious: Japanese and Chinese selections dominate the five-page menu, and it is not uncommon on a single table to see a veritable taste-tour of Asia. The chefs shine with substantial dishes, such as "Hoshun Ribs," steamed, fried and then sautéed in a secret mix of seasonings, served over sweet potato fritters. Best of all, those late, late night cravings for General Tso's chicken or kung pao shrimp can now be satisfied, as Hoshun serves till 2 a.m.
