Sullivan Street Bakery produces dark brown, chewy breads that are sold in a number of restaurants and gourmet shops in the city. There's always a line of devotees waiting to buy the crusty loaves and the pizzas---more like flatbreads with toppings---fresh out of the oven, though they're equally good at room temperature. There are often well-made desserts on display like ricotta and fruit tarts and, during the Christmas season, the homemade pannetone cannot be beat this side of the Adriatic.
