A Voce Description:
"A Voce," Italian for "word-of-mouth" specializes in modern Italian fare. The atmosphere is contemporary.
Missy Robbins, formerly of Chicago's Spiaggia, brings a bit of dazzle-meets-rustic at this Italian restaurant on Madison Square Park. Robbins does an admirable job in some places on the menu and disappoints in others. The roasted sardines could use more lemon and, while the bread-crumb crust adds a nice texture, it only takes away from the freshness of the fish. The thinly sliced octopus, however, is simple and nicely dressed. Mushroom ravioli, wading in an extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled with prosciutto and wild arugula, bursts with flavor; the oxtail ragù tagliatelle, however, falls into blandness. The wine list is a bright spot. There are several good, affordable wines and a massive selection of greatest hits from France and Italy.
