Reliable, creative American cooking, easy-to-swallow prices, and available tables make Giorgio's of Gramercy a perennial best-kept-secret. The exterior makes it seem a bit swankier than it actually is, though it would be a loss to miss out on the Italian-American fusion dishes served here because of it. Start with the calamari and vegetable fritti served with aged pecorino and truffle fondue with lemon and herbs. Linguine is topped with Maine lobster, cherry tomatoes, scallions and basil. Among the entrées, we recommend the caramelized sea scallops with sides of curried cauliflower purée, roasted cauliflower and Marcona almonds.
