Different ownership is good news for the White Dog Café, the American eatery situated in three adjacent Victorian brownstones next to the University of Pennsylvania. Partners Marty Grims (Moshulu, Tango, Daddy O) and GM Andrew Welch (The Inn at Little Washington) have teamed to brush the dust (literally) off the restaurant, infuse new energy into service and deliver finesse from the kitchen. From the fresh fig and pear salad and hand-cut steak tartare to the silky braised short ribs with Brussels sprouts leaves and the grilled Duroc pork chop with poached cider apples, the seasonal American menu offers comfort, pristine ingredients and fine presentation. Try the warm cinnamon donuts with bourbon cream for dessert.
