As chef of the only Central European restaurant in Raleigh, Todd Whitney spices up familiar German and Polish favorites with innovative flair and a commitment to freshness. In the tiny mirrored bistro you will discover such dishes as roasted chicken breast with cabbage and turnip pierogies with vodka cream, pork schnitzel with Austrian potato and cucumber salads, and duck confit and duck sausage with red wine braised lentils and red cabbage. "Pub plates" such as chicken stew with mushrooms and spätzle, and meatball goulash pack in a lot of flavor for the modest single-digit price. Desserts also change frequently, but the seasonal strudel and chocolate spice torte are special treats when available. The wine list focuses on unusual German and Austrian choices, and is matched by an impressive beer list.
