Morton's of Chicago Description:
The Morton's chain is all about quality steaks, salads and sides with a couple of seafood items thrown in. The originator of the show-and-tell tableside menu, Morton's lays it on thick. But it's a good thick, and it's a fine place for good food and a good time in a clubby atmosphere. After a liquid cocktail, dive into a shrimp or jumbo (a word frequently appearing on the menu) lump crab meat cocktail to start. Chopped salad is a meal in its own. For meat and potato fans, we favor the bone-in rib-eye or the strip steak au poivre, and the Lyonnaise potatoes. The sides, such as creamed spinach, sautéed button mushrooms, and grilled jumbo asparagus are à la carte, and large enough to share. Although there is a section called "slightly smaller" (where you can get, for example, a single cut filet mignon rather than the standard double cut entrée), we can't help thinking those quotation marks merely signify that everything's relative. If there's room, there's nothing like a lush and rich piece of cheesecake or Morton's hot chocolate cake to wind up a steakhouse dinner.
